HUTS
The Red Hut is by far the most iconic element of Rye Harbour Local Nature Reserve. It is of course man-made, but then according to the management plan "little of the LNR is natural".
For some time I've been experimenting with ways to highlight the constructed nature of the landscape. This is a postcard model of the Red Hut, smaller than my thumb, that has been re-constructed as a digital 3D model.
I also found a full-sized model of the Red Hut that I've used in a GIF on the previous web page to represent the palimpsestuous nature of the place. The landscape has been remodelled by both tide and man for hundreds of years.
This is a work-in-progress. I hope that one day I might be able to hold an exhibition in a Red Hut - real or virtual.
