STONES
I've worked with stones before on walks, comparing the taking of a stone with the taking of a photograph and thinking about how each involves an inescapable aesthetic choice.
At Rye the stones I found appeared as a cairn - a sort of ready-made land art - perhaps by man or beast or more intriguingly created by a photographic way of seeing that lined them up with the Old Lifeboat Station.
Creating the 3D digital models of each stone requires many still images: a regard for the stone that echoes the monolithic reverence of ancient times.
The stones are then 3D printed in red - a warning colour in nature.
This project is a work-in-progress, whose aim is to return the red stones to the site and re-photograph them with the 3D Printed Camera before replacing them with their originals.
